Blink Brow Bar: Inspired by India…

Having launched a number of successful concessions in Topshop, John Lewis and Selfridges, Blink Brow Bar approached AMD to design their first bespoke retail environment at Westfield, White City. Our challenge, as with any mall-like setting, was to create a memorable brand experience inside a standardised white box unit.

Our research took us to the origins of threading, which we learnt is an ancient Indian craft that dates back more than 5,000 years. I had coincidently travelled around India that year, so had captured endless design inspiration on film. Using heritage as a key theme, we decide to incorporate the rich earthy tones I’d seen in India as a reference / nod to where threading had begun.

The space itself is very narrow, so in order to give a sense of depth we finished the floor and one wall in terracotta then the ceiling and other wall in teak which added texture. Keeping the Blink Brow Bar demographic in mind, we incorporated soft tones of pink and pistachio to add a contemporary twist to the colour palate.

To complete the look, we up-cycled industrial looking threading chairs in a cool mint leather and designed a series of bespoke fixtures and fittings including a window feature, retail unit, plant holders and iPad racks.
